Join Matt Talbot’s Souper Bowl of Caring Team and Tackle Hunger

Souper Bowl of Caring is an annual event where communities across the nation come together, inspired by the Super Bowl, to tackle hunger locally by raising food and funds for local nonprofits working to end hunger. As millions tune in to watch the Big Game on February 9th, this event allows fans to tune into the needs of their neighbors as well.

Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach invites local churches, schools, civic clubs, and businesses to join their Souper Bowl team to tackle hunger in Lincoln. Feeding the hungry is at the core of Matt Talbot’s mission with two hot nutritious meals served on-site every day of the year. In 2023, more than 250,000 meals were provided through prepared meals, donated food, and food pantries - a 39% increase from the previous year. In addition to hunger relief, Matt Talbot also offers homeless prevention services such as life skills & tenant education, drug & alcohol counseling, case management, housing programs, and help with basic and emergency needs such as showers and laundry services.

Participation can be as simple as making an announcement one week and collecting from your congregation, neighbors, friends, family, or co-workers the next week. Donations of cash, food, or other items from our online wish list are all welcome. One item or $1 per person makes a huge difference. Matt Talbot staff are available to huddle up with your group, discuss strategy, and provide any needed equipment (such as collection buckets).

Together, we can tackle hunger – one donation at a time!
